Meet the Trustees

  Chair: Robert Jolliffe has a banking background and has been a trustee for two years. Until recently, he worked for RBS as Managing Director, Head of Debt Capital Markets.
  John Ellis is chair of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Wales and director of education for the former Dyfed County Council.
  Sir Roger Jones OBE in an entrepreneur and former chair of the Welsh Development Agency
  Clive Howells was latterly executive board member resources for Carmarthenshire County Council and former local authority chief executive
  Camilla Swift, is a freelance garden writer and horticultural pr and formerly editor at large with Saga magazine
Professor David Mabberley, a member of Kew Gardens Directorate, and one of the world’s leading botanists and is best known for his plant dictionary The plant-book: a portable dictionary of the vascular plants.
Professor Alistair Hetherington, the Melville Wills Professor of Botany at Bristol University and a leading specialist in molecular plant science.
Dr Hew Prendergast is a botanist who worked at Kew for many years before taking over the running of Ashdown Forest in Sussex. Ashdown is an EU Special Area for Conservation and Special Protection Area, largely on account of its heathland, and at 2500 hectares (10 square miles) is the largest public access space in the South East.

Susyn Andrews, Consultant Horticultural Taxonomist, is a highly experienced taxonomic horticulturist, well known at the National Botanic Garden from the early days and more recently through her lectures.


Ceri Black, Head of Learning at the National Museum of Wales, is responsible for educational activities across all of the National Museum sites.

Richard Pryce, of Pryce Consultant Ecologists, runs his own ecological consultancy company assessing the environmental impact for a range of proposed developments and providing other environmental services.

Wyn Evans, Deputy Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council, Executive Board Member for Resources, has represented the local constituency of Llanddarog since 1977. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience at the local level and has been a strong supporter of the Garden since its inception.
