Artist takes centre stage

One of the UK’s leading botanical artists will take centre stage at the Garden of Wales Festival.

Ann Swan has been awarded four gold medals by the Royal Horticultural Society and is a regular teacher at RHS Wisley – and you can see her in action at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Saturday May 31 and Sunday June 1.

Her exquisitely detailed drawings have been sold and exhibited worldwide including at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and at the Hunt Institute, Pittsburgh, USA. As well as her four gold medals, Ann has been awarded a silver medal by the 14th World Orchid Conference and her work features in the Shirley Sherwood Collection.

Her striking compositions are intensely observed and often enhanced with colour, using a technique of applying conté pastel or coloured pencils with solvent. Many of these meticulous plant portraits have now been reproduced as limited edition prints, each one signed and numbered by the artist.

The Garden of Wales Festival takes place simultaneously at the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney.

Festival tickets cost just £10 each and will entitle you to visit both venues as many times as you want over the weekend.

To help visitors travel between the two venues, there will be a FREE shuttle bus running all day, Saturday and Sunday.

To buy tickets, contact either venue or call Carmarthen Tourist Information Centre on 01267 231557; Llanelli TIC 01554 777744; Llandovery 01550 720693.
