Euro dancers flock to Garden
Dance groups from all over Europe will be at the National Botanic Garden of Wales for the fourth annual International Folk Dance Festival on Saturday July 12.
There will be dancers from Finland, Sweden and Cornwall – as well as more than 200 dancers and musicians from across Wales.
Organiser Bobbie Evans explained that it is something of a logistical headache to gather everyone together for the day.
“All our visiting dancers have to be found somewhere to stay for the weekend and they will be enjoying meals, hospitality and trips out around the area from a number of ‘host’ families from all over Carmarthenshire,” she said.
“It is a lot of hard work to make it all happen but the day of dancing is always so spectacular and such great fun that I always know it is worth it.”
There will be a chance for Garden visitors to join in with the festivities.
“There is one English folk dance group who make it their mission to get as many people up and dancing with them as possible – so that should be a lot of fun,” she added.
There is no extra charge for entry to the International Folk Dance Festival, just normal Garden entry prices apply.
